What’s Good Studios To Fund Kenya’s Top Digital Content Production, & Talent Acquisition

Digital seems to be the word of the era. Digital phones, digital televisions, digital migration, the digital generation…everything and everyone is getting (or trying to get) digitized. The number of people buying newspapers is declining; most people no longer wait for news at the top of the hour on TV and radio stations. The world is getting digitized, fast. And with the ever transforming technology, it only gets better.

Leading digital content company based in Kenya, What’s Good Studios, yesterday  announced that it has inked an investment round with Digital Focus Africa, an international digital consultant firm with the aim to enable What’s Good Studios to increase capacity in Kenya and beyond, and to serve a rapidly growing digital content market in Africa and worldwide.

Now, to make it known to those of us in the dark, What’s Good Studios is Africa’s leading digital content studio that provides integrated media solutions, helping global clients to engage new audiences through innovative digital content and through cross-media distribution.  Often called ‘Africa’s Brand Whisperers,’ WGS creates lifestyle content that drives conversation. Digital Focus Africa on the other hand, provides consultancy to global clients seeking to enter African markets. It also helps to raise capital to help promising digital businesses scale. Prior investments by the company have helped to launch digital enterprises such as Pesa Pal and Ticketsasa.

The studio has signed media personality Caroline Mutoko and comedians Eric Omondi and Chipukeezy, among others still in the works, as a select number of key talent to partner with in co-production deals.

“I am delighted to partner with What’s Good Studios to engage a wider digital audience, as well as to co-produce original content for my online channel which will launch early 2016,” said Caroline.

Speaking about the investment, Erin Smith, CEO of Digital Focus Africa says that they were impressed with the range of branded content WGS creates at international standards, as well as having pioneered online digital entertainment experiences such as their owned urban channel, ‘What’s Good Live TV, which is why the investment is such a worthy one.

Tilo Ponder, CEO and co-founding partner What’s Good Studios comments, “We are very excited about the investment from Digital Focus Africa because it enables us to expand our capacity to serve our rapidly growing list of clients seeking to create engaging digital content and increase brand engagement across digital platforms, particularly on mobile devices.  It also means we can increase our capacity to serve rapidly growing young digital African audiences with on-demand content that reflects their lifestyles.”
