Carrefour Hypermarket Fully Integrated With Lipa Na M-Pesa

As the business world continues to embrace the convenience of Lipa Na Mpesa, Carrefour which is the world’s second largest hypermarket chain has become the first retailer in Kenya to fully integrate the service.  It is now possible for the giant retailer to fully adopt M-Pesa as a payment method in the country.

What this means to customers queuing to pay at the tills is that they will be able to complete payments without having to show evidence of an M-Pesa message to retail stuff. This is one thing that really makes the queues drag on and on as customers wait for M-Pesa to reply so that they can show the cashier the message.

With this development, Carrefour which occupies 5,000 square meters at The Hug in Karen joins more than 44,000 merchants actively using Lipa Na M-Pesa in the country.

Fun fact:

Carrefour means “Crossroads” in French.
