The Importance of Building Trust – 300 Business Leaders Trained

On August 30th and 31st Kenya played host to Mr. Stephen R. Covey, a world renown author behind the book ‘The Speed of Trust’, a book that looks at power of trust to change things in society, businesses and even Governments. He is both a New York Times as well as Wall Street Journal bestselling author.

During his visit, Covey presented several business cases for trust and dispelled the myth that trust is a soft, social virtue, but a hard-edged economic driver. He provided attendees a greater vision of trust as a measurable, strategic advantage as well as share the behaviors and tools common to all high-trust leaders around the world. Apart from the business leaders, Mr. Covey also held a Speed of Trust session with Safaricom Limited staff.

Covey highlighted on the dangers of ‘blind trust’ and advise on leaders to invest in smart trust, which not only involves trusting using ones heart but also mentally analyzing crucial situations to find a middle ground.

The sought – after and compelling keynote speaker is the bestselling author of The Speed of Trust, a ground-breaking book that challenges our age-old assumption that trust is merely a soft, social virtue and instead demonstrates that trust is a hard-edged, economic driver – a learnable and measurable skill that makes organizations more profitable, people more promotable, and relationships more energizing. He advocates that nothing is as fast as the speed of trust and that the ability to establish, grow, extend, and restore trust with all stakeholders is the critical leadership competency of the new global economy.

Mr. Covey’s inaugural visit was hosted and organized by Raiser Resource Group. Mr. Ian Ng’ethe, CEO of Raiser Resource Group, says that “at Raiser, we are honoured to host the inaugural Stephen M.R. Covey Speed of Trust forum which has an impressive turnout. It is out hope that the business leaders will be able to use his informed and practical approach to real-time issues to have positive impact on their immediate and long-term performance”.
