Midcom yesterday launched a new range of mobile phones into the Kenyan market – Fero. With 16 different phone models, the Fero range of phones is so wide that it covers right from the very entry level rural feature phone user to the youthful office executive in urban areas. The phones are pretty affordable with some feature phones starting at US$8.
The flagship devices and the most beautiful is the Fero Royale series, phones that are classy, elegant and come with good features. They’re all 4G enabled and have a 4000 mAh battery. I have the Fero Royale X1 and will be doing a full review after I’ve used it. The Royale series also has Y1 and J1.
Other smart phones other than Royale are Aura series, Zoom series, Power series and Mega series.
Midcom group is no new comer to the telecommunications field and has vast experience and extensive networks in major African markets. The company will have no problem overcoming the unique set of logistical, after sales and pricing that are unique to Africa.
With time each town in Kenya will have a #Fero service center. Starting with Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu and spreading out.

For example, in terms of after sales, the company plans to have a service centre in each town across the country. Furthermore, there are plans to offer free courier services to those in deep rural areas who would like to bring their phones to the nearest service centres for repairs.
Fero phones already have over 1.2 million customers and with good pricing and good after sales services, this number is bound to grow.
