On Friday, DusitD2, launched an official menu to mark the onset of the Greek Food Festival scheduled to run from 12th-19th November 2016. The event, organized by Dusit’s Soko Hotel in partnership with Qatar Airways seeks to give food lovers a taste of Greece right here in Nairobi.
During the festival, guests will get to sample various authentic Greek dishes prepared by two Chefs flown in from Greece. There will also be live music to entertain guests as they enjoy their dinner starting from 7:00pm to 10:00pm daily upto the festival’s end on 19th November.
We got to sample some of the dishes and this post will be heavy on images from this point. One thing that was worth noting is the fact that Greek food is minimal on the spices and a large proportion of it consists of sea-food, lamb and dairy.
The starters on the menu included Ewe’s milk marinated in rosemary; hummus; Tsaztziki, Grilled Ewe haloumi with olive oil and oregano; beetroot salad, chick peas with fennel and marinated Octopus with eggplant salad.

This delicious spicy bread smelt and tasted so heavenly.
Options for the main course were Beef meatballs with tomato sauce; Mousaka; Red snapper fillet with tomato; grilled lamb chops and Pilafi rice with saffron .
Mousaka.
And finally dessert was this delicious Cheese Halva topped with cashews and cream.

I particularly loved the Halva as it neither too sugary nor too bland; the nuts brought in an interesting crunchy twist to the mushy dessert
Be sure to drop by Soko Restaurant at Dusit to get a taste of Greek. Reservations must be made prior.
