Fero Iris Mobile Phone Launched In Kenya

About 5 months after mobile phone brand Fero launched 16 phones into the Kenyan market, the company has today launched the Fero Iris. The newly launched phone comes with added security in that users are able to unlock the phone using their eyes. The Iris scanner is said to unlock the phone in less than a second. We’ll be confirming that when we do a few review in a few.

The use of mobile phones is increasing at a high rate both locally and globally and global smartphone sales are estimated to have gone up by 2.3 per cent to 1.47 billion units in 2016. This means a lot of competition among phone companies, with a direct benefit to the end user because manufacturers try to outdo each other by having good devices and features to capture and retain the market.

This is the thinking behind the Fero Iris. As Fero Mobile Head of International Marketing Vivek Chaudhary said, “The smartphone market is saturated with new advanced features every day. This demands for smart and fresh ideas for predecessors of each phone,”.

Fero Iris features

  • 5 Inch display
  • Dual Sim
  • 1 GB RAM
  • 2,500mAh Battery
  • 8 MP back camera
  • 2 MP front camera
  • 4G Enabled
  • Micro SD upto 32 GB

During today’s launch, Fero also announced a partnership with online retailer Jumia to make the Fero devices available across the country and to make it easier for people to buy.

The Fero Iris is already available for pre-orders on Jumia for Ksh.8,999/- , a very fair price considering it has some good modern features. The phone is a perfect entry level smart phone for users on not very high budgets.
