Do you have plans to buy yourself a phone on a budget this festive season? Or to gift a loved one? Reading a review here and there will help you as you make the choice and this on here is for the Tecno Spark 4 Air.
As mentioned it is a budget phone which you’ll get in Tecno shops at the price of Kshs.10,000 give or take something small but even then, it is not an inferior phone. Rather it is within reasonable expectations for that price. The phone has been with us since around mid October and I’ve interacted with it for a few weeks now.
It comes in a simple box in which you’ll find everything you’ll need, plus a free customized back cover made of clear plastic. By everything you’ll need I mean a set of beautiful ergonomic ear plugs, a charger/USB cable, a 12+1 months warranty assurance card, plus of course the phone itself. I must note that the plastic back cover is not just some weak plastic, but one that does seem like it can protect the phone to quite a reasonable extent in case it takes a mild fall. With the back cover, of course you can say goodbye to scratches.
The Spark 4 Air comes with impressive features which one can play around with and not feel like they’re using a budget phone. That is how much Tecno Mobile has worked over time to bring fair priced phones with good features.
At a reasonable 6.1” display so one does not feel like they’re struggling to view what they’re doing on the screen. With a screen resolution of 1600*720, it is a clear
Cameras and storage
Having a budget phone no longer means being stuck with grainy photos or a dead Instagram career. The spark 4 Air comes with a 13MP dual camera at the back and 5MP front camera. And for those of us whose main need for good storage is the photos upon photos and videos that we keep taking, the phone has a 32GB internal memory, upgradable to 128 via micro SD. It also has a 2GB RAM which in all honesty is good for a normal use phone.
The cameras are enabled with AI beauty even on video. You know when you’re video chatting and you need to look your best at all times but previously you couldn’t? How you would feel conscious and helpless because video was not covered in the beauty mode of previous phones? Now you’re covered for that and you can freely and confidently say ‘I woke up like this’ 😀
Battery
The Spark 4 Air is powered by a 3000 mAh non removable battery which I found to be quite enough for me on days when I’m not busy on phone. But when I’m myself, on a normal day I literally live on phone partly due to the nature of my work and partly due to the fact that I’m slowly gravitating towards social media addiction though I’m actively checking on this :-D.
Conclusion
The phone feels rather heavy especially because I was coming from a much lighter Camon but that is not anything I could not get used to. When it comes to a screen protector, I don’t use them because I generally don’t drop phones and therefore do not really run the risk of cracking the screen but I do know quite a number of people who cannot seem to keep their phones in their hands. As such, in addition to the free back cover, I know a lot of people who would have loved to have a screen protector as well. But I also do understand that for a budget phone with fairly superior features, Tecno had to do away with some expenses here and there. In any case since the phone is not expensive, I’m sure users can spare an extra few hundreds and buy a screen protector from third party shops.
For 10,000/- this is certainly a good phone. You can get one at Tecno shops or Jumia.
