Safaricom Launches Lipa Na M-PESA Business App

M-Pesa For Business is here – an App that the more than 170,000 merchants across the country can download from the Android Google Play store immediately and get to enjoy the convenience of access to real time statements, export statements, and to track their business performance on the go. The App will be available on iOS in the coming days.

This comes as a great development for small and medium businesses especially with the pandemic with no foreseeable end because merchants will also be able to minimize contact by not only sending money to other M-Pesa customers, but to also pay suppliers and wages. They will also be able to make payments to other businesses through the App, as well as withdraw funds from Lipa Na M-Pesa to their M-Pesa accounts, bank accounts and at agents.

Other management features that the Lipa Na M-Pesa app will offer are an overview of different tills for businesses owners with multiple outlets, and till usage management.

To top it all up, the App comes with detailed reports of information like money in and money out charts, store overview and frequently used Lipa Na M-Pesa tills and paybills for ease of use.

The App complements the *234# menu which has been providing Lipa Na M-PESA merchants with the ability to manage their till and to make transactions. At the same time, Safaricom has also rolled out a portal where any business across the country can now apply online for a Lipa Na M-Pesa Till at m-pesaforbusiness.co.ke. The “M-Pesa for Business” App will be immediately available to these businesses once their application is processed and a Till Number allocated.

Digital transformation is marching on with or without COVID-19 and the Lipa Na Mpesa App is an example of the many solutions that businesses are taking to increase digital inclusivity.
