Tecno Pouvoir Phone – The Battery Champion With Quite A Bit Of Weight

First impressions

If I were to describe the Tecno Pouvoir 4 in simple terms, I would say a budget phone that looks more premium for its price. That’s the first thought that came to mind when it landed on my desk a few weeks ago for review. It is a heavy phone. Noticeably heavier than any phone I’ve used in some time.

Battery

Other than that, I’ve been using the phone for some time now and let me first and foremost confirm that it does meet its promise of a long-life battery phone. With a 6000mAh battery, this is the first time in a long time that I’m not having any anxiety at all about running out of charge in a long time. I’m actually able to get to two full days on full charge and considering that I can be quite a heavy user, this is quite something for me.

As Tecno continues improving and optimizing their batteries, I’ve not really had to worry about this. Less so with the Tecno Pouvoir which has an extra layer of assuredness since it is a phone that not only prides itself for long battery life, but also carries a big capacity battery.

What’s in the box?

The box comes with all the items that we’re now used to in phone packaging. That is the gadget itself, user manual for those who read them, a custom-made plastic case, warranty document, a screen protector, power adapter and USB cable, earphones and the pin for ejecting the Sim tray. Tecno has since taken to making standard earphones which I must say are quite comfortable and do not hurt the ears or cause headaches after long term use.

Design

As have been the trend with Tecno of late, the design of this phone is beautiful and feels premium. The colour is such that it changes depending on how you shift the phone and this gives one the feeling of a device into which someone put effort. It is actually a stunning device for its price range and quite a pleasure to use. The logo/branding has a small addition that looks like a little separate logo for the Pouvoir series.

This phone also has a dedicated Google Assistant button on the left side so that should one need to use this feature that is becoming all too common, they do not have to go navigate the phone itself. This is quite something I would say.

Storage

The Tecno Pouvoir has a 32GB ROM and 3GB RAM. Not a whole lot of storage especially because with a screen as big as 7”, it would be movie and series heaven for me. Not that 32 is too shabby though and that kind of memory is not something that would stop me from purchasing the phone.

Cameras

I feel like these days, cameras is where its at for phones. People are embracing phone photography at such a rate that it’s becoming more of a norm to whip out our phones and snap selfies or regular photos. The phone has quad cameras mounted at the left most side –  13MP+2MP+2MP+AI. That is aside from the 8MP selfie camera. Whichever way I look at it and despite the fact that I’m using a phone camera of much higher specs, the photos that this phone produces are not half bad.

An 8MP camera with Artificial Intelligence is certainly quite a companion especially for snap and go social media pics and selfies.

Conclusion

Is the Pouvoir worth the price of Ksh14,000? Yes certainly. It packs much more than its worth and falls right into Tecno’s very good business model of availing good features in affordable phones.

The weight is a bit of a concern though. A bit heavy but not anything that cannot be managed.
