The Spirit Of Giving With Uteo Wa Furaha

by Femme Staff

Part of what makes Christmas so endearing is the spirit of giving. Sharing what we have with loved ones and in the case of corporates, blessing their customers with gifts, offers and discounts.

Gifts will always spark emotional connections and we have already seen a lot of joy since Safaricom’s Uteo Wa Furaha campaign started a few weeks ago. Through the campaign, Safaricom is sharing offers and discounts across several of their products, and also surprising their customers with gift baskets.

Joy is infectious and across social media, we have been witnessing the smiles on people’s faces after receiving blessings like food hampers, t-shirts, goats, chicken, umbrellas, fuel, and branded balloons for the kiddies. This has been happening in different parts of the country like Nairobi, Mombasa, Meru, and Western Kenya to name a few.

So, what has Uteo Wa Furaha been all about?

Airtime

Airtime is probably the most versatile gift that a user can receive. As part of the Uteo Wa Furaha campaign, there is 1M in prizes which include airtime, devices and shopping vouchers. There is also an interesting treasure hunt running virtually through Google Street view and there are prizes to be won. Under Tunukiwa for instance, there is an airtime deal of 51 minutes talk time for Ksh.30/-, valid for 5 hours.

Lipa Mdogo Mdogo

Speaking of devices, people wishing to buy phones via Lipa Mdogo Mdogo have special offers on select smartphones and accessories. For instance, they can get Tecno Spark 7 at 50/- daily and the Tecno Camon 17 at 80/- daily. Smartphones are great either for self-gifting or gifting loved ones and this is a good avenue to get one without straining the pocket.

Discounted travel

Between 6-10 December, lucky travelers who booked their local flights through the ‘book a flight’ mini app on the M-Pesa app got to pay only Kshs.1,000/- one way or Kshs.2,000/- for a round trip. This offer had 100 winners every day for 5 days. There are also discounts on SGR and BuuPass bus tickets bought through M-Pesa mini apps. Event tickets also fall under this discount.

Boda Boda road safety campaign

As part of the Uteo Wa Furaha campaign, Safaricom has partnered with National Transport and Safety Authority NTSA and the National Boda Boda Association to run a road safety initiative. Road safety goes hand in hand with happy people all year round, but extra care has to be taken around this time when travel is at an all-time high throughout the country. This initiative is targeting Boda Boda riders who are a major conduit in the overall travel scene.

Bonga for X-mas

People with accumulated Bonga Points can redeem them for their travel expenses, shopping or hospital bills. They can also share points with friends and family by choosing option 6 on the *126# menu.

Data offers

Under Tunukiwa, there is an offer of 1GB for just 20 bob, valid for 1 hour. I feel this package is great for a quick download or catching up with uninterrupted video on Youtube. There are other plans to choose from on the *444# menu.

Home fiber

Home fiber clients have not been left behind, with an offer of 50% off on all packages while Uteo Wa Furaha lasts.

To tie the whole Christmas mood together, we have old melodies from the Safaricom Choir and Safaricom Youth Orchestra. Melodies like Holy Night, Hark the Herald, and Oh Come All Ye Faithful that have been with us for ages and are still fresh in our minds.

Generosity is the real spirit of Christmas and Safaricom will reach as many people as possible with Uteo Wa Furaha, spreading cheer and smiles.
