The OPPO Reno 7 Is Now Officially In Kenya

Last evening, OPPO Finally unveiled the OPPO Reno 7 smartphone in a virtual event broadcast on Youtube, as well OPPO’s Facebook page. The phone comes with exciting features and is everything it promises to be in line with the high quality and innovation that OPPO is known for. The launch which was hosted by Shaffie Weru was graced by well-known celebrities Bahati, Diana Marua and Wabosha Maxine to showcase the phone’s features and extensive capabilities.

So, what standout features are we looking at in the new phone?

I will be doing a comprehensive review after interacting with the phone sufficiently but right upon opening, there are features that are quick to notice.

Attractive design

The phone looks and feels solid, with minimalistic design elements that give it that premium look. At the back there is only a subtle branding and the camera module, and the fingerprint scanner is in-screen so it does not take space. The right side of the phone has the power button, while the left has volume buttons and SIM tray. At the bottom are the mic, USB port, the jack slot and speakers. All the power of this phone is housed in this beautifully simple body.

Sony powered cameras

The Reno 7 is powered by the world’s first ultra-sensing selfie IMX709 sensor manufactured by Sony and designed by OPPO. Sony is a household name in imaging and this partnership guarantees sharper clearer and brighter selfie portrait images. The rear triple camera set up provides a 64MP AI triple camera, a 2MP Depth Camera and a 2MP Micro lens with 15x to 30x magnification.

Other than the hardware, the Reno7 cameras come packed with impressive imaging features including Bokeh Flare Portrait, Selfie HDR, AI Portrait Enhancement, and many others so that users can capture the world in stunning, professional-quality portraits.

Cool colours

The phone comes in Sunset Orange and Cosmic Black, both of which give off an air of class and refinement. To create the colour and texture of the Sunset Orange,  OPPO makes use of its own Fiberglass-Leather design, bringing an entirely new tactile sensation to the Reno series in the process. This texture is combined with a bright orange colour tone to make a bright, lively, and very noticeable device that resonates with both men and women.

The Reno 7’s other eye-catching colour finish; Cosmic Black, makes use of the iconic OPPO Glow effect to create a back cover that is glossy in appearance with a fingerprint-resistant matte texture. The classic Cosmic Black model presents an immersive black that is simple and pure in its design to which creates a classy classic appearance. The camera module at the back has a spliced design that draws eyes towards the premium cameras.

Custom made protective cover

In the box you’ll find among other items a free custom-made silicone cover. I’ve always liked phones that come packaged with this because it means that one, customers don’t get to spend additional money and two, custom made means that   the cover is an exact fit and of assured quality. Same goes for the pre-installed screen protector.

Availability and prices

The OPPO Reno 7 whose pre-orders are ongoing will start selling officially on May 5th. The phones will be available in all OPPO shops, Safaricom shops, and online through Jumia, Kilimall and SkyGarden. The 4G variant will be priced at Ksh.42,999/- while 5G will retail at Ksh.59,999/- .

As mentioned earlier, I’ll be doing a full review, in which I’ll cover more features. In the meantime I’ve taken a few photos with it already and will be taking more in the coming days. Enjoy.
