The Infinix Note 12 VIP – My User Experience And Thoughts

The Infinix Note 12 VIP is quite easily the most beautiful Infinix I’ve ever interacted with in terms of design. The phone was launched at a colourful event at Sarit center, with media guests, influencers and vendors in attendance. It was also graced by Sauti Sol who are the brand ambassadors and they treated us to a good show.

As mentioned in an earlier article, The Infinix Note 12 VIP is the first in the industry to use aerospace grade materials. This has given a noticeably high quality, polished look which is evident on first impression. Aerospace material is tough, giving the phone the advantage of being long lasting and a scratch proof exterior. From the horse’s mouth, “The Note 12 VIP takes its design inspiration from the skylights of a performance car to bring you a smartphone that oozes style, sophistication and superior performance”. Read the full design review here.

I’ve been using the device for a few weeks now and here is my experience and thoughts, and some photos I took to test out the camera.

Battery

This phone does not stop at design. It is a high-performance device which comes with strong chipsets and ultra-fast charging – the fastest I’ve interacted with on any device to date. The charging system will deliver 0-100% charge in an unbelievable 17 minutes thanks to the 120w charger. This kind of charging combine with a 4500mAh battery pretty much puts an end to the anxiety of a battery running out of charge. For someone who is a very heavy phone user, I’m able to run the full day and still have around 35% charge by the time I’m calling it a day and heading home. So, this is a phone I use for work, fulltime music, and lots of TikTok which is my go-to for short mental breaks in the course of the day. Lighter users can go up to three days with a full battery.

Cameras

At the back we have a 108MP triple camera with a 2MP depth sensor and a 13MP ultrawide lens. The camera also comes with laser detection auto focus, a technology that works by emitting its own beam of light as opposed to relying on light from the subject. This means that the camera will produce good photos even in poor lighting conditions. Here are a few photos I took with the device.

Display

The note series has always been good with display and I feel that the Note 12 VIP has gone a notch higher. With a 6.7” AMOLED screen, 120Hz refresh rate and 360Hz touch sampling rate, this is device that will be a pleasure to handle for whatever use, be it gaming, working, or entertainment like Netflix. I use my phones for movies quite a bit on the go and these display features have made the experience much more pleasant. I get clear vivid content with rich colours and combined with the screen size, these are excellent features for video. Although I’m an external sound user, I do test out the phone’s speakers once a while and I can attest to good quality sound too.

Storage and performance

For performance, we are looking at a device with the Helio G96 chipset which gives the phone great overall performance and especially the graphics. This processor takes the mobile gaming experience to a whole other level.

The Note 12 VIP which is powered by Android 12 has 256GB of internal storage and 8GB RAM. Furthermore, it has 5GB virtual RAM whereby the software uses part of the phone’s internal storage as RAM when need be, to virtually increase memory. Say goodbye to freezing apps and glitching software even when taking the phone through the most grueling tasks like gaming and multitasking.

Verdict

I feel that the Infinix Note 12 VIP has ticked and surpassed most of the boxes that one would expect a midrange phone to tick. Infinix mobility has put a great device with superior features within the reach of people with a budget of Ksh.41,999/- Other than that, there are also other choices for lower budgets within the Note 12 series, that is the Infinix Note 12 and Note 12i. Putting all the above features side by side with the price range, I would say this is a good deal.

In the box you will find the phone, free custom made back cover, free protective screen protector, wall adapter, USB cable, earphones, literature and warranty and a PIN ejector tool. There is also an X-Club welcome and Carlcare card.
