Driven by the impressive achievements of its premier smartphone models, the Find N2 series and the Find X6 series, OPPO has attained the leading position within the Chinese smartphone market for the first half of 2023. Additionally, on a global scale, OPPO has secured the fourth position during the same timeframe. Based on insights provided by Canalys, OPPO commanded a noteworthy 10% slice of the global smartphone market in the first half of the year, with an impressive shipment count of 51.9 million units. Moreover, in the context of the China smartphone market, OPPO dominated with an 18% share, cementing its position as the most favored brand in China throughout the initial six months of the year.
OPPO’s achievements have been propelled, in part, by the triumph of foldable smartphones, which are currently experiencing a phase of rapid expansion in this year and continuing to demonstrate substantial untapped potential. According to Counterpoint Research, the global shipments of foldable smartphones are projected to undergo a noteworthy growth trajectory, with an estimated compound annual growth rate of 114% from 2019 to 2025. This trajectory is anticipated to witness a fourfold surge between 2022 and 2025, ultimately culminating in 55 million units. In this context, Chinese original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), OPPO included, have been swift in embracing the foldable market, significantly contributing to China’s emergence as the world leader with a commanding 26% share of the market in 2022.
New data from Canalys also shows that OPPO held a dominant 31% share of the foldable market in China during Q1 2023, making it the leader in the growing segment. At the product level, the OPPO Find N2 Flip outperformed all other foldable products to make up 15% of foldable smartphone sales in China from January to May 2023, according to Counterpoint. As the first vertical flip phone to introduce a larger cover screen, the Find N2 Flip is crafted for practicality and enjoyment for daily use, featuring a less-visible crease, a powerful battery, and an intuitive UI design alongside other industry-leading innovations. These innovations and the commercial success of the Find N2 Flip have also helped OPPO to outperform the global foldable market this year, where its market share has increased from 5% in Q1 2022 to 13% in Q1 2023, according to Canalys.
OPPO remains committed to driving the growth of the foldable smartphone market and enhancing the user experience through its continued focus on technical innovation.
