Carrefour, owned and operated by Majid Al Futtaim in Kenya, has finalized the handover of donations worth more than KES 3.9 Million to Imani Children’s Home through its ‘Round Up Your Bill’ initiative. As part of the donation, a Solar Heating Water System, a Hot and Cold-water Kitchen and bathroom piping systems, bathroom renovations and change of the Children Water Closets have been installed at the children’s home. The initiative will benefit more than 300 children.

  • Through the initiative, customers can volunteer to round up their shopping bill by a few shillings and donate towards providing essentials for local communities. ‘Round Up Your Bill’ is available across all Carrefour stores in the country.
  • The donation to Imani Children’s Home was driven by Carrefour MEGA store and has been in progress since the start of the year.
  • Imani Children’s Home started in 1992 as a simple children’s home and has now grown to an institution catering to an average of 300 children spread across 6 children’s homes in Nairobi and its environs.
  • Speaking during the event, Christophe Orcet, Regional Director of Carrefour – East Africa, Majid Al Futtaim Retail, said: “We thank our customers for overwhelmingly supporting the Round Up Your Bill initiative. The donations have enabled us to improve the facilities available to students at this home. We believe that decent education is key to sustaining future generations and we will do our best to make it possible for children to learn in welcoming environments.”
  • This follows a KES 5 million project that was successfully completed in July at Gacharage Primary School in Kiambu county

Carrefour continues to invest in social protection and education initiatives across the country. The initiatives are run across each of Carrefour’s 20 stores located across the country. Since 2016, Carrefour has impacted more than 2 million families through its social impact initiatives.
