Equity Afia Expands Network to Increase Health Coverage

Equity Group Foundation (EGF), through its health pillar, opened 7 new, fully equipped Equity Afia medical centres to increase health coverage and address the rising demand for healthcare services across the country.

Currently, Equity Afia has 102 medical centers across the country, with a plan to roll out 1000 centers across East and Central Africa by 2030. These facilities are managed by a team of qualified and highly skilled staff comprising of medical officers, nurses, clinical officers, pharmaceutical and laboratory technologists whose clinical management is supported by state-of-the-art laboratory and diagnostic equipment to ensure that curative and preventive services are offered at the highest standards.

The latest additions are medical doctor run facilities located in Migori town, Nyamira town, Busia town, Bomet town, Mpeketoni town, Iten town and Kwale town. The Equity Afia franchise, founded in 2015, focuses on increasing access to affordable and high-quality health services across the country in urban and rural locations bridging the inequality gap in the provision of health services.

The facilities provide a wide range of outpatient services including medical consultation, laboratory, ultrasound, X- Ray, pharmacy, Dental, Optical, Mother & Childcare and chronic disease management programs.  Some Equity Afia clinics like Ruiru, Bamburi in Mombasa, Athi River, Kitengela, Ruaka, Kenol, Nakuru Section 58 and Kikuyu operate 24 hours. Equity Afia facilities are open to all patients including cash payers and the insured, having been accredited by all major insurance providers.

Aligned to the Government’s vision on Universal Health Coverage (UHC), penetrating underserved communities across the country will see increased access to treatment, timely consultation and higher emphasis on a preventative and promotive approach focused on nutrition and lifestyle management with timely treatment when needed.

The Equity Afia Medical Centers have a 24/7 online and social media support system. This makes it possible for patients and clients to interact with frontline healthcare workers in real time and make enquiries about the services offered. A dedicated phone number is also available for each medical center, the number is open for calls and enquiries all day. Utilization of these online platforms in the different available ways will make it easier for Equity Afia to serve the communities that host the medical centers and receive real time feedback from its customers.
