Absa Bank Kenya PLC and EABL have announced a KES 1.4 million sponsorship kitty towards incentivizing Team Kenya at this year’s Magical Kenya Open (MKO).
The sponsorship will see professional golfers Daniel Nduva, Samuel Njoroge, and Dismas Indiza benefit from the sponsorship package setting the stage for the highly anticipated tournament.
Each of these pros will receive KES475,000 courtesy of the sponsorship to ensure they have everything they need to compete in this tournament. Absa Bank will also provide these players with branded kits and golf balls for the duration of the MKO tournament. As a way of further marketing them to put in their best, Absa has pledged an additional KES1 million to any of the Team Kenya pros that makes it to final 10.

This year nine Kenyan pros will represent the country at the tournament. These include Dismas Indiza, Daniel Nduva, Greg Snow, Mike Kisia, Mohit Mediratta, Samuel Njoroge, Jastas Madoya, Mutahi Kibugu and Njoroge Kibugu. The eight local pros will be joined by four local amateurs including John Lejirma, Deaflympics bronze medalist Isaac Makokha, Africa’s second-best hitter Michael Karanga, and Josphat Rono.
With a prize purse of KES 382.5 million ($2.5 million), the 2024 Magical Kenya Open promises to be an exhilarating world class showcase of talent that has so far attracted 144 elite golfers from across the world, including 9 Kenyan professionals (pros) and three regional pros, as well as four amateurs.
Last week, Absa Bank announced a KES 75 million investment in this year’s MKO, becoming the tournament’s official presenting partner. As part of this sponsorship, KES 55 million goes towards supporting the Local Organizing Committee through Kenya Open Golf Limited (KOGL), ensuring the delivery of another world-class tournament.
