Carrefour, which Majid Al Futtaim owns the exclusive rights to operate in Kenya, celebrates its eighth anniversary in the country. To mark this milestone, Carrefour launched its ‘8 Years of Great Moments’ shopping extravaganza, providing customers with exclusive offers and exceptional savings from 31 May up until 13 June.
During the campaign, over 2,000 customers will be provided with the chance to have their entire shopping cart paid for in a spin-the-wheel draw. Additionally, customers can enjoy discounts of up to 50 per cent across various product categories including electronics, home appliances, self-care and hygiene products, fresh and food items, and baby essentials.
Christophe Orcet, Regional Director – East Africa, Majid Al Futtaim Retail, commented: “We are deeply honoured to be a part of the Kenyan community. Eight years ago, we entered the market with the goal of creating memorable shopping experiences for our customers. Today, we proudly welcome thousands of customers daily across our stores nationwide. This serves as a testament to our commitment to providing a diverse range of products that cater to the needs and lifestyles of our community, enabling us to further expand our ecosystem of loyal customers and partners.”
Since the start of its operations in Kenya in 2016, Carrefour has witnessed remarkable growth, expanding its footprint to 23 stores across Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kisumu. Through partnerships with over 700 local suppliers, including farmers and small and medium enterprises, Carrefour actively supports local industries. The retailer has also facilitated the export of local produce, with 645 tonnes of fruits, berries, and herbs exported in 2023 alone.
Orcet added: “Our eighth anniversary is more than just a milestone. It reaffirms our commitment to supporting our local community, empowering our colleagues and partners, and contributing to Kenya’s economic growth.”
Carrefour has created over 7,000 direct and indirect job opportunities for Kenyan talent. The retailer has also partnered with 5 local manufacturers to develop its Private Label brand, actively promoting local industries.
