Over 8 000 healthcare and medical lab professional visits are expected to descend upon Nairobi’s Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) from 4-6 September 2024, to participate in the largest medical professionals gathering in East Africa.
The industry-defining Medic East Africa and Medlab East Africa conventions will host more than 200 exhibitors, as well as industry investors from across the globe. Attendees will be treated to keynote speeches, panel discussions and networking opportunities that promise to propel the region’s healthcare sector into an era of innovation and prosperity.
Tom Coleman, Senior Exhibitions Manager at Informa Markets Healthcare says, “We have created a platform to bring hospital managers, medical manufacturers, key government leaders and medical experts into the same room for discussions on the industries most pressing issues.”
A range of Kenyan state officials, from the Ministry of Health to the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry as well as the Ministry of ICT and Digital Economy will attend this year’s conference.
“High-level guests from a range of Ministries will ensure that the conference takes a multi-sectoral approach to areas such as primary health care, universal health coverage, and the digitisation of health services,” says Wadwalkar.
New country pavilions and influential exhibitors
More than 30 exhibiting countries will make their way to the KICC for the conferences. A highlight feature of the 2024 event will be the new country pavilions from Egypt, South Africa, and Brazil. Delegates can expect cutting edge medical devices and solutions to be on display in this arena.
Influential medical industry leaders like Roche, Snibe Diagnostic and Crown Healthcare will join the likes of Siemens Healthineers, Fujifilm, Daedalus and LG at this show. These partners will bring the latest medical technologies and showcase their benefits at Medic East Africa.
“The beauty of this show is that along with these high-level partners, it remains relevant for medical associations who are on the frontlines of the region’s complex healthcare challenges,” stresses Wadwalkar.
On the pulse of the latest healthcare trends
Wadwalkar notes that “from digital health services to the brain drain of healthcare professionals and exploring new ways to manage medical labs, this event has been curated to offer relevant discussions with leading experts.”
The Healthcare Summit 2.0 will feature a series of panel discussions on:
- Health care industry transformation with numerous hospital CEOs and medical association speakers.
- Future-proofing healthcare systems with public health experts, philanthropic organisations and rural and urban hospital associations.
The Laboratory Conference sessions will have daily discussion of topics such as:
- Overcoming the challenges of mycology diagnosis and clinical management in low resource settings.
- Effective performance management in East Africa’s medical laboratories.
- Exploring genetic tumour markers for early detection of cancer.
These accredited conferences will be free to attend for healthcare and lab professionals from East Africa.
Sustainability and convenience are top priorities
The environmental impact of in-person conferences is top of mind for Medic East Africa. Measures have been taken to reduce the overall carbon footprint of the three day event. Examples include contracting partners like Basi Go, an electric bus company, to transport visitors to and from the KICC while lowering greenhouse gas emissions.
Additionally, only sustainable building materials have been used at the venue and exhibitors are encouraged to avoid disposable exhibition stands so all core elements like walls, archways, and counters can be reused in the future to reduce waste.
To facilitate a smooth travel experience, those attending the conference are eligible for discounted flight with Kenya Airways and exclusive hotel discounts between 28 August and 10 September 2024 have been arranged.
Shaping the future of health in East Africa
This year’s meeting boasts a line-up of regional and international experts who will share cutting-edge insights and best practices to solve the region’s greatest health challenges. Medic East Africa 2024 promises to be a transformative event for the local healthcare industry.
