From Childhood Nostalgia to Sweet Memories: My Lifelong Journey with Cadbury’s Chocolate

I’m writing this from the scenic Tigoni area in Kiambu, where I came to wind down the week. Surrounded by lush tea fields and cool breezes, the scenery reminds me of my childhood and earlier life in the village, which is pretty much like this. Growing up, I spent a lot of time in nature and Tigoni brings a wave of nostalgia, taking me back to childhood memories.

Along with childhood memories comes the nostalgia of sweet treats like Cadbury’s chocolates, which were a rare but cherished treat back in the day. My parents did not buy chocolate often but when they did, it felt like magic. They did not buy them in bulk either, so my siblings and I learned the art of sharing, savoring each piece, and unbeknownst to us, creating unforgettable memories that still warm our hearts.

Fast forward to when I started working, I joined a book club where we rewarded ourselves with a bar of Cadbury’s chocolate for every completed book. It was a simple, inexpensive, yet delightful ritual that fueled a lot of reading in me and other members of the book club, all the while creating even more memories of the books we cleared. As an avid reader, this made the joy of reading even more rewarding and memorable.

As I grew into a young woman, Cadbury’s chocolate took on a new significance, becoming an expression of romantic love. It is almost a given that a gift pack is not a gift pack without a bar of chocolate and as I explored this new phase of life, I was always giddy with excitement at the gestures of affection that came with the powerful combination of chocolate and flowers. The simple act of receiving Cadbury’s chocolate became a tender way to connect, making it not just a treat but a symbol of youthful romance. The innocent excitement of discovering love for the first time. Once again, Cadbury’s continued to walk my journey with me and create sweet memories which I cherish to date.

Today, as I was coming to pen my memories with the brand, I instinctively grabbed a Cadbury’s Lunch Bar at the supermarket without even thinking. It only hit me later how much I’m naturally inclined to Cadbury’s array of products, not only chocolate bars but beverages and snacks too. My monthly shopping is never complete without several bars of my favorite Rum and Raisin, which comes only second to chocolate mint which delivers the perfect balance between creamy chocolate and a refreshing burst of cool mint.

Cadbury’s recently celebrated 200 years of creating sweet memories and I’m glad that over time, I’m one of the people who have been part of that journey. You too can join this celebration dubbed “Yours For Generations” by taking a chance at amazing prizes such as cash, phones, or shopping vouchers. All you need to do is purchase two packs of any of the Cadbury Dairy Milk Vintage packs, 80g or 150g, and share the two codes found inside the wrapper of the pack.
