NCBA Partners with AWS to Boost Digital Skills for 3,000 Staff

NCBA and AWS are pleased to announce strategic training aimed at enhancing the digital skills of over 3,000 NCBA staff members across the East Africa region. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in positioning NCBA as a digital innovation pioneer in the financial services industry.

The program will see NCBA leverage AWS Training and Certification offerings to develop customized training programs for its workforce. Virtual instructors will lead the training online via AWS Digital Classroom to enable NCBA employees to build their knowledge and skills in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, and Big Data and Analytics, among other areas.

By investing in the professional development of its staff, NCBA is committed to driving strong results and retaining the best talent in an effort to better serve its customers. AWS Training and Certification will reinforce NCBA’s strategic focus on harnessing advanced digital technologies to anticipate and meet the evolving needs of its customers, positioning the bank as a leader in digital innovation within the financial services industry.

“We are excited to work with AWS to provide our employees with world-best practice-based training access,” said NCBA’s Group Managing Director John Gachora. “By equipping our staff with advanced problem-solving digital skills, we are accelerating our digital transformation efforts, enabling us to bring new end-to-end digitized customer journeys to market.”

“Organizations need cloud-skilled professionals to drive business transformation, and the availability of skilled talent is the single biggest barrier to industry transformation” said Martin Risau, head of EMEA Training and Certification at AWS. “We are thrilled to collaborate with NCBA in helping upskill their workforce to meet their future digital skill needs.”

The Digital Skills Training program will kick off in September 2024, with a tiered rollout approach planned to ensure maximum participation and engagement among employees. Both NCBA and AWS are committed to supporting staff throughout the training process, with all participants working towards earning AWS Certifications, which will validate their knowledge and skills training upon completion of the program.
