Aga Khan University Celebrates Emerging Authors, Highlights Literature’s Transformative Power

Aga Khan University has convened publishers, emerging authors and researchers, during this year’s authors’ day to celebrate the transformative power of new voices in literature and research.

This year’s Authors’ Day event, celebrated the contributions of first-time authors and young researchers, emphasizing their role in driving social change and community development.

Speaking during the event, Author and Suba North Member of Parliament Hon. Millie Odhiambo thanked the university for its excellent work in nurturing and encouraging young authors.  

“Writing is an important way of reforming and amplifying diverse perspectives. Whether you write for academia or creatively, we must publish our experiences to enrich ourselves and reform the wrongs in society.” She said.

The celebrations highlighted the transformative power of writing and the diverse voices within the university.

Aga Khan University Associate Vice Provost and University Librarian Prof. Peter Gatiti emphasized the university’s dedication to developing scholarly content that defines the university.

“Today, we are happy to celebrate the hard work done by our scholars across our campus to create scholarly content that not only gives us teaching and learning materials but has also contributed to knowledge sharing across the world.  Aga Khan University scholarly materials have been downloaded to the tune of 3.5 Million articles.”
