Majid Al Futtaim, which owns the exclusive rights to operate Carrefour in Kenya, has announced the opening of its 26th store in the country, located in Spring Valley on Lower Kabete Road, bringing services closer to customers in the area. This marks the retailer’s 4th store opening in Kenya in 2024, highlighting  its continued investment and expansion in the region

The Spring Valley store spans 665-square-metres and offers a diverse range of groceries, fresh produce and essential household items. The new store brings a wide variety of high-quality products and convenient retail solutions closer to customers, including Carrefour’s innovative self-checkout service, enhancing the shopping experience and reducing checkout times. This brings the total number of Carrefour stores in Kenya offering the service to seven, including Westgate Shopping Mall, The Village Market, Sarit Centre Mall, The Hub, Runda Mall and GTC Mall.

Christophe Orcet, Regional Director – East Africa, Majid Al Futtaim Retail, stated: “The opening of our new Spring Valley store underscores Carrfour’s commitment to increasing the accessibility of high-quality, affordable products and convenient shopping solutions for our Kenyan customers. This expansion is a testament to Majid Al Futtaim’s dedication to driving economic growth in the region through job creation, supporting local suppliers, and advancing modern retail practices.”

The Spring Valley store is expected to create over 25 new employment opportunities, adding to Carrefour Kenya’s team of over 2,600 collegues, 99 percent of whom are local talent. Carrefour sources 99 percent of its products from local suppliers, reinforcing its commitment to the Kenyan economy.

To celebrate the opening, Carrefour is offering store exclusive discounts on a range of products for two weeks, providing customers with exceptional value and a superior shopping experience.

With 26 stores now operating across Kenya, including Nairobi, Kisumu and Mombasa, Carrefour continues to expand, bringing its innovative shopping experience and focus on community impact to more Kenyans.
