Considering that the Magical Kenya Open is always a unique event that always bring many stakeholders together, we are happy to announce that this year’s Magical Kenya Open has created 5 more spots to the Kenyan Professional Golfers, in so doing exhausting all the agreed invitations (22) available to the region as agreed with the DP World Tour.

This has taken place after rigorous consultations and discussions whereby the LOC considered the appeal from the Professional Golfers of Kenya (PGK) Board to ensure greater representation of Kenyan professional golfers in the game.

The DP World Tour has enjoyed the cooperation of Kenya as a host and hub for the region over the years and in order to honour the original commitment made by the Magical Kenya Open organizers, the DP World Tour has agreed to increase the field size, balance the field and allow the planned qualifying competition for regional professionals to take place as planned on Monday. All cost implications will be absorbed by the Magical Kenya Open.

We emphasize that the Magical Kenya Open does not exclude any players based on prejudice or bias. Our selection process is competitive and transparent, guided by the standards, rules, and principles established by our partners, DP World Tour. These guidelines mean that those who qualify for the tournament meet the required merits and cut-offs, ensuring that the field quality remains at a high level, which is a priority for all parties.

Therefore, the field will comprise 150 players from over 30 countries.

The Magical Kenya Open (MKO) 2025 is scheduled to take place from Thursday, February 20th to Sunday, February 23rd, 2025, at the Muthaiga Golf Club in Nairobi, Kenya. This year’s tournament is part of the DP World Tour event calendar for professional golfers worldwide.

The tournament attracts approximately 15,000 spectators from within Kenya and over 10,000 foreign golfing enthusiasts during the four days of the event.

Meanwhile, the Magical Kenya Open event is set to help boost Kenya’s economy significantly including SMEs. Kenya is set to benefit from a USD.7 million injection within the set days of the event. Hotels are currently fully booked in Nairobi and its environment.

The Magical Kenya Open also helps nurture and inspire more talents from the Junior who always are privileged to meet interact learn and get first-hand training from the

professionals on how to turn into pros. This year the Junior Golfers shall be treated to a special event at the 13th green where they will have a shoot-out with the professionals too as we grow the Future Kenyan golfers.

The event shall also have the Kifaru Village that promotes our youth and the Kenyan Talent in the Creative industry who will be showcasing their talents as they get entertained and interact with the MSMES and SMES who will be showcasing their wares as the Magical Kenya open creates a marketplace for them too.
