NCBA Education Sponsorships support bright, determined students like Adan, Michael, and Loise, providing financial aid to help them pursue academic success.
We typically come across sad stories online, with social media giants creating the cases to begin with and encouraging others to give donations in some form or another. However, with digital donations on the rise, the authenticity of such a story becomes doubtful, hence making it difficult to distinguish a genuine case from a potential scam.
Recently, I had the privilege of meeting three remarkable young individuals Aden, Michael, and Loise, whose life stories deeply moved me. They are living proof that one’s background does not have to define their future. Despite facing harsh realities at a young age, they refused to let their circumstances dictate their destiny. Instead, they have persevered, pursued their dreams, and achieved incredible milestones against all odds.

Adan, a confident young man, hailing from Mandera county, stood up to give his testimony. Within a few moments he says, “I am one of 40 siblings, coming from the ends of the country where attaining education is an uphill task. I knew very early in my life that education was the only key to opening the doors of my success.” As a young boy, his mind was set, to do his best and let his work speak for him.
He continued to concentrate on his studies, going the extra mile to excel. As was always his ambition, his diligence bore fruits when he scored outstanding marks in his primary school level. His brilliance did not escape KENSAP’s attention when he sat for Alliance High School the following year.
“When I got to Nairobi, I realized there was so much more to life than what I had experienced back in Mandera. I reached out to the KENSAP team, and when they heard my tale, they welcomed me into their program with open arms,” he says.
Fueled by determination and an unquenchable thirst for success, Adan set his sights even higher, seizing every opportunity that came his way. His hard work and resilience paid off when he scored an impressive A plain (84 points) in his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).

Now, he is preparing to embark on the next chapter of his journey at Princeton University, where he will pursue his university degree. With this invaluable exposure, Adan dreams of returning home to Mandera, armed with knowledge and experience to create meaningful change and transform lives in his community.
None of this would have been possible without the support of KENSAP and its dedicated partners, like NCBA Bank, whose philanthropic contributions help make dreams a reality. The financial support they provide ensures that bright, hardworking students like Adan don’t have their promise cut short by circumstances beyond their control.

This year, NCBA donated KSH 12 million; to help beneficiaries like Adan, whose vulnerability often limit their dedication to excel in their studies. “If it were not for KENSAP and NCBA, I would not be where I am today. The NCBA Education Sponsorships, through organizations like NCBA, gave an opportunity to dream beyond my surroundings and work towards a future I never thought was possible,” Adan elaborates.
Michael and Loise, themselves not without their share of issues, would not let their circumstances decide their fate. Despite having grown up in dysfunctional homes, they held on to their dreams with an unyielding determination.

Michael, a bright and ambitious boy, battled through many obstacles to become successful in school. His hard work and determination earned him a place in one of the country’s top schools, opening doors to new possibilities he could hardly have imagined. He hopes that at Princeton University, he will be able to explore various careers, and make a great impact back home.

Loise, equally resolute, defied the odds of societal demands and economic limitations to pursue education. With hope in her heart and determination, she proved that any challenge is not too immense when confronted with courage and the right support. She hopes to finish her secondary school studies at M-Pesa Foundation, and become a lawyer.
It’s a reminder that there are people and institutions out there willing to invest in the next generation, and a little help like th NCBA Education Sponsorships can change the course of a life forever.
