Epson has launched the S1A00210B, its latest Epson hearing aid PMIC, designed for hearing aids and other compact electronic devices. Sample reservations will open in April 2025, with shipments starting in August.

Advancements in Power Management for Hearing Aids

Power management integrated circuits [PMICs] play a crucial role in managing power within electronic devices, including rechargeable battery control. Epson has been developing PMICs for hearing aids since 2016, addressing the limitations of primary [non-rechargeable] batteries, such as voltage drops, frequent replacements, and waterproofing challenges. By introducing wireless charging technology, Epson has enhanced the convenience of rechargeable hearing aids.

Epson’s latest PMIC, the S1A00210B, builds upon these innovations with a more compact coil, reducing the hearing aid’s size while improving efficiency. This model can store two types of battery charging profiles and track charge cycles, allowing optimized charging for different battery characteristics. By intelligently managing power distribution, Epson hearing aid PMIC minimizes energy waste, enhances device longevity, and ensures stable performance. These features reduce charging time and extend battery life, enhancing user convenience, making hearing aids more reliable for daily use, and supporting advancements in compact medical technology.

Mukesh Bector, Epson’s Regional Head for East and West Africa, highlighted the company’s commitment to innovation: “Epson continues to push technological boundaries to enhance user experience. The S1A00210B is a testament to our dedication to delivering compact, energy-efficient solutions for modern electronic devices.”

Key Features and Applications

  • Compatible with both wireless and contact charging
  • Stores multiple battery charging profiles to optimize performance

Integrates all essential PMIC functions [power reception, charging, power supply, battery protection, and Flash ROM] into a single chip, simplifying circuit design

The S1A00210B is suitable for hearing aids, sound amplifiers, and smart rings, providing manufacturers with a streamlined, efficient power management solution. Epson remains committed to developing precise, energy-saving technologies that contribute to societal well-being by improving device performance and user convenience.
