Safaricom Foundation has outlined its strategy for the years 2023 to 2026. The strategy themed ‘Partnering To Enhance Equity’ focuses on three main areas: health, education, and economic development. This strategy launch follows the successful implementation of the Foundation’s 2018-2021 strategy which saw over 4 Million people positively impacted through more than 2000 community projects. Overall, the Foundation which has been operating for a period of 19 years, has made a positive difference in the lives of more than 8 million individuals so far throughout all counties.

Under the health pillar, the foundation plans to enhance reproductive, adolescence, and child health. In the education sector, the foundation aims to increase digital skills for students and teachers while improving access to technical and vocational education and training (TVET). In economic empowerment, Safaricom Foundation aims to support enterprise, agribusiness, and ecopreneurship. Through these initiatives, the foundation aims to make a positive impact on the lives of the communities it serves, promoting sustainable development and contributing to Kenya’s long-term economic growth.

For a considerable time, we have misconstrued the significance of TVET, despite being the most effective facilitator for creating better prospects. In essence, TVET encompasses everything we possess, including our attire, furniture, and even personal grooming. By rectifying the TVET sector, we can enhance the standard of living for countless young individuals. Let’s work together and make a positive change.

In recent years, there has been a significant emphasis on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), and the Safaricom Foundation has actively participated in expanding this sector as part of its education initiatives. According to Joe Ogutu, the foundation’s efforts are aimed at advancing the TVET sector and promoting its growth.

Safaricom Foundation has established strong connections with various communities across the country, which guides the initiatives they undertake to make a positive impact.

“In this 2023 to 2026 Safaricom Foundation strategy, we will heavily leverage technology across the three pillars to improve efficiency and scale impact. By 2026, we hope that Safaricom Foundation will have proven that it is possible to impact the community through technological interventions,” – Peter Ndegwa, CEO, Safaricom.
