I get excited every time an OPPO device lands on my desk because ever since I started reviewing their gadgets at OPPO Reno 5, I have fallen in love with every single release for different reasons. Reno 5 is the phone that I described in my first ever interaction as near perfect and to date it is still in my mind. Not that subsequent phones are not up to standard. Far from it. But the Reno 5 stood out for kicking off my journey with OPPO on a very high note.
Through the years, I have interacted with every OPPO phone that has launched and this time round I have the Reno 11 F 5G – a standout device combining class, aesthetics, and power. The phone has a striking appearance especially given the unique palm green shimmery finish which I was longing to get my hands on since I saw the teaser photos online. The back cover is slightly dual toned between green and black depending on the angle one holds it at. I was also drawn to the device’s slim profile and lightweight build which makes it comfortable to hold and easy to carry around.
In addition to its visual appeal, the OPPO Reno 11 F 5G also delivers a great user experience. The display is vibrant and sharp, offering an immersive viewing experience. With an up-to-date OS, good internal memory and good RAM, the device’s performance is top-notch, handling various tasks with ease.
Here are my thoughts on the phone after using it as my primary phone since launch.
Display
With a screen size of 6.7” and a resolution of 1080 x 2412 pixels, the phone has a crystal clear display with vibrant colours, and the phone’s thin bezels add to this great experience. I stream quite a bit of series and movies and the combination of high resolution video quality and good sound are quite the winner.
For gaming fans, good resolution, good sound, and good memory means that they get to enjoy the speed and high quality of graphics that make gaming what it is. OPPO Reno 11 F is top notch on all these features.
Camera
OPPO Reno 11 F comes with an impressive AI camera system, starting with a 64 MP main camera, supported by 8MP ultrawide and 2MP macro lense. Add to that pre-installed features that will take photos and video in pro-mode, panorama, extra-HD, night mode, timelapse and slow motion among others to enhance your creativity. All these features combine to give the user a rich photography experience and near professional shots. Actually, if one can take time to tinker with the camera settings, there are plenty of features to discover there. These features are just a few among many others that can only be discovered and perfected with continuous curiosity. The selfie camera is 32MP.
Performance
To set OPPO Reno 11 F 5G’s performance on high gear is the Mediatek Dimensity 7050 chip, a powerful 6nm 5G chip that ensures that all core functions are working harmoniously and efficiently. A chip is pretty much the brain of the smartphone and sees to proper operation of phone features, including memory and storage management, cellular communication and stability, Bluetooth communication and general running of the phone.
The device ships out with Android 14 and OPPO’s ColorOS 14, further ensuring phone security, stability, and usability. ColorOS is an OPPO user interface that is layered on top of the Android operating system. This gives OPPO users creative freedom to tweak their phones to a great level of personalization, not only in terms of look and feel but other areas like power conservation, convenience tools and app optimization. In the end, users have phones that truly reflect their personalities.
With an internal storage of 256GB and 8GB RAM, this is a phone that will support any heavy usage and multitasking without lagging or hanging.
Battery
What I’ve come to appreciate most about OPPO’s charging systems is the SuperVOOC. VOOC stands for Voltage Open Loop Multi-step Constant-Current Charging. Quite a mouthful but what is important is that this technology is without a doubt a game changer. For the end user layman, let’s just say that it stands for never having a dead or dying battery again. The OPPO Reno 11 F for instance comes with a 67W SuperVOOC charger, which will take the phone from 0-100 in about 45 minutes.
The battery itself is 5000mAh, and for me as a heavy user, it sees me through the day. I only start getting anxious in the early evening, but at that time I’m headed home anyway.
In my books, a good battery system is the most important feature of a phone. Otherwise, what good are all the other functions if they are not powered? It is a good battery that gives me access to all my entertainment like music, movies or series, Netflix and Youtube which are both battery heavy, and Spotify and TuneIn too.
I also work online and even though I use the laptop most of the time, there is still a good chunk of time that I will use the phone for work. Like when traveling long distances and to take lots of photos and experiment with the phone camera. We know that phone photography is now mainstream since it is no longer the 2MP we once used back in the day, and we want phones to be powered up whenever we want to capture a moment.
