Unboxing The OPPO A60: Affordable, Stylish, and Military-Grade Durability for The Kenyan Market

by Femme Staff

In keeping with the impressive trend of releasing device after device, OPPO recently ushered into the Kenyan market the OPPO A60 – an entry level smartphone that puts the power of flagship devices in an affordable range.

I’ve had the privilege to be among the first to interact with the device and I’ll be doing a full review later but, in the meantime, I have some first impressions and some features I fell in love with at first glance.

One such feature is the look of the phone. My test piece came in a stunning midnight purple, though it also comes ripple blue for those who are prefer a bit of razzle dazzle on their devices. I prefer the more muted purple which communicates a subtle sense of class that goes with my style.

OPPO A60 also stands out for safety and sturdiness, having passed military grade tests for shock resistance as certified by US military standards testing unit – MIL-STD 810H. My colleagues will be doing the stress tests, and I will share the results in the upcoming review. With one of the biggest worries being dropped and cracked phone, this is a very big step by OPPO towards ensuring value for money for users and I hope it is a trend that will continue in other devices in future.

Other than the colour which I’ve mentioned above, the design is also quite stunning and minimalistic, which I love. OPPO has kept the top and sides of the phone very uncluttered and placed most of the connectivity and sound features at the bottom. The back only features the camera casing and OPPO branding.

So, what’s in the box?

The phone comes packaged in a simple compact box which holds the device itself, a custom-made soft plastic back cover, charging brick, USB cable, phone literature and warranty card and a SIM ejector tool. OPPO does not have a pair of earphones in the box but I’m quite at home with OPPO Enco Air. The device comes with a 3.5mm jack for those who prefer wired connections.

Other features that struck me upon unboxing are the battery size and charging speed which combined, ensure that users will never go without charge. I also love the 50MP camera which will also record videos in 1080p. This takes mobile photography to near professional levels, and I can’t wait to use it more.

For Ksh.29,500/-, this is certainly a worthy purchase given the superior features and the fact that it comes at military grade standards of safety. This is the best thing OPPO has done to safeguard users’ value for money.
