As part of the Sambaza Furaha campaign activities in the Greater Western region, Safaricom on Saturday hosted its third Safaricom Hook Circle Workshop, dubbed ‘Praktiklz’ at Masinde Muliro University in Kakamega.

The event brought together over 4,000 young aspiring individuals from the region and its environs, offering them mentorship and connecting them to opportunities aligned with their interests, including music, dance, fashion, and online gaming.

“At Safaricom, we believe in the transformative power of opportunities. The Safaricom Hook Circle Praktiklz is about connecting with our youth, inspiring their creativity, and rewarding their passion even as we continue to Sambaza Furaha to our customers across the country,” said Fawzia Ali, Chief Consumer Business Officer at Safaricom.

During the workshop, attendees interacted, engaged, and learned from mentors in music, dance, fashion, and online gaming. They also participated in competitions where winners walked away with exciting prizes including smartphones and airtime.

“I want to thank Safaricom for remembering the youth of Kakamega and giving us a platform to showcase our talents through Safaricom Hook. As a young fashion enthusiast, I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to display my creativity and learn valuable lessons during this workshop. I met mentors who not only inspired me but also provided practical advice on building a successful career in this field,” said Gloria William, a student at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology.

In addition to the upskilling workshops, the event also provided the young people with an opportunity to participate in the gaming challenge dubbed ‘Wai Ndai’. This is an online gaming challenge under the Safaricom Hook initiative, designed to engage and reward customers with exciting prizes. The ongoing competition, running until 15th February 2025, offers participants across Kenya the chance to win daily cash vouchers totaling KES 500,000 and one of three brand-new Suzuki Altos.

To take part, customers can simply sign up on the My Safaricom app, USSD *555# or visit https://sc.wineazy.com, and pay a daily participation fee of KES 10 to access the Challenges Arena.
