LG ThinQ AI Eliminates The Need For Multiple Screens While Keeping All The Benefits

One of the greatest innovations in the history of desktop (and now on-screen) computing was the ability to multitask on one screen using multiple windows.

While the feature has been available in desktop and laptop computers for decades, it is only in the last decades that it was possible to split the smartphone screen into two screens.

However, TV technology has been slow to adopt the same customer-oriented functionalities, with many TVs never innovating much beyond the picture-in-picture functionality, which is no longer as a popular today.

This has led to a phenomenon known as multi-screening, whereby users watch TV while using their smartphones at the same time — often discussing or looking up information related to what they are viewing.

A study conducted last year by Facebook IQ in US revealed that 94% of TV viewers kept their smartphones with them while watching a show.

This is just one of the main reasons LG Electronics is partnering with Google Assistant to give its ultra-modern TV displays the AI-fueled edge they need in a crowded market.

The rise of Artificial Intelligence in TV technology has brought back the need for a more immersive and intuitive experience even when using TVs. Instead of switching between devices and interrupting your TV viewing experience, LG now has a way to turn your TV into an information ecosystem in one device.

Moses Marji, LG Electronics General Manager Marketing says the new TV platform works with LG’s webOS-based ThinQAI to bring new levels of convenience and control to the consumer, enabling 2018 LG TVs to deliver an intuitive AI experience.

“The TVs also work with devices such as Google Home to allow users to issue voice commands from connected devices to their TV. Google Assistant integration also allows the TV to act as a smart hub for the home and an instant search engine for important queries,” he says.

This future-oriented approach to electronics design shows that LG has already seen the need to eliminate owning multiple devices just to carry out tasks that are easily accomplished in one. In this way, LG is pioneering a Smart future that eliminates the need for multiple screens while keeping all the benefits.
